Artist Ann Jelley has lived beside North Meadow for over twenty years and was inspired by the fritillaries and other wild flowers to take up botanical illustration. Over the years Ann has trained with the Eden Project and has been a member of the South West Society of Botanical illustrators since it began in 2006. Since joining the Society, Ann’s work has been exhibited in their annual exhibition and some of her natural history drawings were published in the Eden Project Natural History book. “I have become fascinated by glass since I was asked to design a vase as a gift for the Warden of North Meadow in 2010. Being a practical person I like the idea of taking my flower paintings further, to decorate useful items such as tableware and glass.”
Ann's beautiful drawing of the Snake's Head Fritillary has been specially commissioned to feature on a crystal vase to commemorate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.
